Power Wheel Chairs are unique electromechanical machines. Considered medical devices, power wheel chairs require the most reliable components - the most critical of which are the drive system and controller. Furthermore, these components must be designed to fit into the most compact envelope possible, and must be able to handle extremely wide variations in load, speed, temperature and environmental conditions such as rain or snow. ASI has met these challenges with the widest variety of drive technology available from a single vendor. ASI can offer gear motors with the output shaft parallel to the motor input shaft. Or we can offer gear motors with the output shaft at a right angle to the motor input shaft:

Within these two basic categories, we offer: worm, spur or helical gears, Evoloid®, Convoloid® or angled axis gear tooth forms.

ASI's portfolio of technologies allows us to match the customer's requirements with the best drive solution. Cost, gear mesh efficiency, noise, power, and durability - all ingredients that are weighed and matched to the most effective drive technology.

OK - but how do we verify that the selection is the correct one?
A prominent skill of ASI is its ability to create comprehensive testing protocols to prove customer requirements are met with satisfaction. Over 15 years of experience in designing, testing, manufacturing, and evaluating products has allowed us to accumulate a large bank of data that is particularly helpful in refining our new designs, as well as proving them once samples have been made. In fact, many of our customers have retained ASI to test other manufacturer's products from many different industries, not just power chairs.

Standard or Custom?
ASI offers a diverse line of standard gear motors in different ratios, power levels, and shapes for low cost, speed to market solutions. ASI also designs gear motors for applications that require special features not met by our standard products. We design using 3-D Software allowing seamless file exchanges with our customers. From design, to rapid prototyping, to testing, and finally tooling selection for production quantities, ASI will take complete ownership of a project to insure its success.
