Installation is very quick but it depends on the configuration.  An installation with 200’ of travel and three stopping locations can be done in around 1 hour.  Less if the floor is clean.

Operational

No internet, WiFi or GPS is required for FRED to operate.

FRED uses magnetic tape on the floor.  FRED can only go where the tape is installed.  FRED can be commanded to take different “Y”s and turn offs. For more details: https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/educational-videos/

Yes, FRED can travel in either direction and has no preferred direction of travel.

FRED requires an arc with a radius of at least 3’ to make a right angle turn.  FRED can make 3 “turns” of 30° to complete a full right angle turn.  For curved tape installation see: https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/educational-videos/

FRED weighs 550 Lbs and is not afraid to talk about its weight.

FRED can travel at up to 2.1 mph (185 feet per minute) however in most applications the speed can be as low as 100 fpm to insure extra comfort of people working near FRED.

Absolutely, FRED doesn’t mind overtime.  FRED will run for about 9 hours between charges.  For two or three shift operation we often recommend our opportunity charging option. Ask FRED@asidrives.com for more information or click the “chat with us” on the website: www.fred2500.com

Although FRED is strong and could provide the torque needed to move a load up a ramp, the transition on and off a ramp would be difficult to handle safely.  We do not recommend FRED be used on a ramp but contact us at FRED@asidrives.com with more details of your needs or click the “chat with us” on the website: www.fred2500.com

Yes, FRED has been designed with multiple fail-safes. You can remove a load from FRED at any safe location from any side of FRED (see video 4g. – Unloading Pallets from FRED2500 https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/educational-videos/) There is a “Neutral” position which allows FRED to be pushed out of the way. (see video 4e. 4e. – Moving FRED2500 in Neutral on using the neutral function: https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/educational-videos/) There are forklift pockets to allow FRED to be moved by a standard forklift.

FRED uses beeps to communicate. One beep on start up after pressing the go button means you have greater than 50% charge remaining. Three beeps on start up means you have less than 50% but more than 30% remaining. Specifications

With a standard top FRED is just a bit bigger than a 40”X48” skid, 46” (1168 mm) X 54” (1372 mm) X 11” (280 mm) tall.  Without the top FRED is 34” (863 mm) X 52” (1320 mm) X 10” (254 mm) tall. More specifications here: https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/specifications/

FRED operates on two 12 volt AGM Lead acid batteries.

Turn the key to the “N” neutral position.  This will release FREDs automatic parking brakes. Push FRED until the magnetic tape is under the two screws located in the center of FREDs end panel, near the laser opening.  Turn the switch to “ON” and press the appropriate go button. Magnetic Tape

Absolutely, the tape is extremely durable to foot traffic.

You can drive forklifts and pallet jacks over the tape.  If a forklift wheel turns while on top of tape it will be distorted and should be replaced.  Dragging forks or skids across the tape will also damage the tape.Watch video 3h. – Magnetic Tape Repair for FRED2500 https://www.asidrives.com/fred2500/educational-videos/ for a demonstration of tape repair.

Yes, we recommend using safety tape over the magnetic tape in areas where forklift traffic is heavy.
